Fort Scott's Good Ol' Days

On October 1, 2009 Fort Scott Area Community Foundation awarded grants to the following non-profit organizations:

Bourbon County 4H: This grant will be used to fund a project to make the 4H building at the Fairgrounds handicapped accessible, including signage, ramp, and restroom renovation.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bourbon County: This grant will be used for the funding of background checks and the recruitment of volunteers for the 2010 school year.

Children's Advocacy Center, Inc. This Pittsburg-based agency also serves Bourbon County. This grant will be used to help provide services in Bourbon County.

Fort Scott Good Ol' Days, Inc. This grant will be used for children's roving entertainment during the 29th annual festival in June 2010.

Gordon Parks Center for Culture and Diversity Foundation: This grant will be used to help fund Phillip Mentor, a musician, to perform for middle school students during the 2009 Gordon Parks Celebration.

Life in a Jar Foundation at the Lowell Milken Center: This grant will fund an exhibit and writing contest featuring the Osage people, their culture, and their role in the history of southeast Kansas. Congratulations to the Life in a Jar Foundation.

Mother to Mother Ministry of Bourbon County, Kansas, Inc.: This grant will be used for needs of Bourbon County residents, for things such as rent, utilities, diapers, car seats, cleaning supplies, school supplies, clothing, over the counter medications, and transportation.

Tri-Valley Developmental Services: This grant will help fund the purchase of the following in the Tri-Valley Greenhouse: an automatic irrigation system for hanging baskets, additional worktable, water pump and liner, and winterization of the irrigation system.
